PR1.1 & PR1.2.This trail goes from Pico do Areeiro (1818 m) to Pico Ruivo (1862 m) and then to Achada do Teixeira (PR1.2) (1600 m). The footpath PR 1.2, a route leading to Achada do Teixeira, can be found close to Pico Ruivo's shelter house.
Don't miss the Ninho da Manta (Buzzard's Nest) belvedere can be found near Pico do Areeiro, and this is where Zino's petrel (Pterodroma madeira) nests, an endemic bird species from Madeira.
