Curral das Freiras

Madeira's Central Region

We will be visiting the Belvedere of Pico dos Barcelos along this route, which provides a stunning view of Funchal Bay. Then, we head to Eira do Serrado, where we can enjoy a stunning view of Curral das Freiras (known as the Nun's Valley in English) from 1095m / 3592ft above sea level. Next, we descend the road down to the center of Curral das Freiras. Here you can walk around the village or simply go taste the traditional delicacies including Madeira's molasses cake or roasted sweet chestnuts & the famous Ginja (sour cherry liquor).
